ANTH 2301
Summer 2014
Final Exam Review Sheet
The exam format will include short answers, identification questions, short essays,
genetics problems and at least one hominid problem (where you will have to identify
features on a hominid skeleton). It will cover Chapters 1-6, 10, 11, 12, 15, all handouts,
and lectures. Topics included here are important and a good place to start but this is not
an exhaustive list of things that might appear on the test.

Hominid Problem example:
Circle and label at least 3 aspects of the Austrtalopithecus
boisei skull above that demonstrate that it is an example of a
robust hominid.
Possible essay questions:
1. In class we discussed four evolutionary forces that can lead to the creation of new
species. Briefly describe them, and provide examples of each one.
2. Compare and contrast Lamarck’s idea of evolution of acquired characteristics
with Darwin’s idea of evolution by natural selection. Why is Darwin’s theory
more accepted?
Genetics Problems:
1.
Imagine a species where there is a locus with two alleles, A and B. Further imagine
that A and B are codominant. How many different phenotypes are possible in this
species?
A) 1
B) 2
C) 3
D) 4
