The crust that includes continents is called continental crust and the crust that includes ocean floors is called oceanic crust . Mantle: The layer of the Earth between the crust and the core. It is made up of the upper mantle and the lower mantle. Core: The central portion of the Earth below the mantle. It is made up of a liquid outer core and a solid inner core.
