RESEARCH AREAS
My research focuses on feminine slavery in Islam. My dissertation is Shackled Migration; The
European Slave Trade to the Middle East (750-900 C.E.) Secondary research is for potential
classes: East-West Connections through the Ages, Introduction to Islam, The Modern Middle
East, Medieval History of the Mediterranean, State and Society in Medieval Islam, Slavery in
World History, Jerusalem History: Meeting place of three religions, Minorities under Islam,
Women in Islam, Arab Literature in Translation, Arab/Israeli Conflict, World Religions, and
World History to 1500.
