Changes relating to highway maintenance and construction work on the
Transport for London Network (TLRN)
We recently reviewed and consolidated all our activities for managing and
maintaining London’s main road arteries under ‘London Streets’.
The way in which we manage delivery of our day to day management of
highway operations dedicated highway operations teams, delivering
emergency and general maintenance on the TLRN twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week. All enquiries regarding emergency and general
maintenance should be directed through:

A map of London is provided at the end of this letter to explain the TfL
allocation of boroughs to North, South or Central Areas.
Further, the management of the construction and project delivery of capital
schemes (such as carriageway resurfacing, new pedestrian and cycle
facilities) has changed such that all project and programme delivery will take
place under the newly formed Project Management Centre. We have made
these changes in order to meet the expectations of the new Mayor, funding
constraints (which we are all experiencing) and to reflect the success of the
Highways Maintenance and Works contracts launched in April 2007.
Therefore, from 1 April 2009 there will no longer be individual Area Managers
working on specific boroughs. Road Network Management will now deploy
project managers to a portfolio of schemes. The new organisation delivers a
structure which is more flexible by responsively allocating resources
according to demand, while remaining focused on deriving value for money
through a prioritised investment programme and a dedicated project delivery
team. Therefore, the contacts for scheme delivery that you have enjoyed at a
borough level will no longer be available to you and instead, the following
communication channels are recommended for enquiries regarding schemes
that are in delivery:

Development and Delivery Manager North area:
