Algebra II Review for Test Ch. 2.7, 2.8, 3.1, 3.2, and 3D Graphing Be able to: Use all of the mathematics we’ve learned previously in this class. Think. Evaluate piecewise functions when given a value to substitute for x. Graph piecewise functions when given a piecewise function. Graph the function f(x) = x . Write the general form of an absolute value function (at the top of p. 123) and explain how a, h, and k change the graph of f(x) = x . Graph absolute value functions of the form a x h k . Describe what a system of two equations is (p. 139) Describe what a solution of a system of equations is (p. 139) Check that an ordered pair is a solution to a given system. Solve systems of equations graphically (section 3.1) Produce three graphs of three different types of systems: consistent and dependent, consistent and independent, and inconsistent. (these words are used at the top of p. 145, but we discussed them in depth in class) Solve systems of equations algebraically by o Substitution (p. 148) o Linear Combination (p. 149) Write and solve a simple system of equations when given a verbal scenario (p. 151 example 5) Graph an ordered triple on a graph with three variables (example 1 p. 170) Graph a section of a linear equation in three variables (p. 171 example 2) In addition to studying the topics above, I recommend that you work the following problems in order to prepare for the test. I have assigned more problems than I feel are necessary to prepare you for the test. Work as many as you need to in order to prepare. I will not collect these problems, but they will be discussed in class the day before test day.
