Landform – the shape of an area on the surface of the Earth
The three main landform shapes
1. Mountains

Landforms and definitions
1. Cave – an opening in a mountain or hill that leads to an
underground space
2. Cliff – a steep, vertical face of rock or soil
3. Plain – a large area of flat land
4. Mountain – a large, tall, rocky area of land that comes up out of
the earth’s surface
5. Volcano – an opening in the earth’s crust from which lava flows
6. Plateau – a large area of flat land that is raised higher than the
land around it
7. Delta – low, water land that is formed at the mouth of a river
8. Island – an area of land that is completely surrounded by water
9. Valley – an area of low land between mountains or hills
10.
Canyon – a large crack in the earth caused by a river or
earthquakes
