Sometimes the emperor of Qin was called the tiger of Qin.
When Zheng gained all control of China he changed his name to Qin
Shihuangdi.
As a ruler, Qin believed in strict laws, harsh punishments, and a
strong central authority.
Qin was greatly influenced by legalism.
So Qin would not be threatened by powerful lords, he replaced the old
system of feudalism with a government he controlled himself.
His territory was divided into 36 districts, three officials were given control
over one district. 1. was responsible for the army. 2. Takes care of laws and
agriculture. 3. Tells Qin what was going on. Qin use harsh punishments and
measures to keep his power.



Qin unified China by standardizing cultural practices that are different
in other places.
The laws were based off of legalism.
Rich and poor people were treated equally.
Under Qin the only money acceptable were metal coins made of bronze or
gold, otherwise people used shells, pearls, silver, tin objects and coins as
money.



The Qin dynasty is known for being the first government to control
China.
But, the Qin dynasty is also known for being cruel and ruthlessness.
The Qin dynasty introduced a standard writing language with
uniformed characters to make sure communication throughout China
was running smoothly, it was wonderful for government purposes.
Writing




When Emperor Qin standardized the towns he also standardized
writing.
He got rid of many of the written characters that were being used
all over China.
A later dictionary listed 9,000 approved characters.
Over 20,000 bamboo strips holding records have been found in
central China.


The bamboo strips engraved with ancient calligraphy are official
documents holding political, economic and cultural living 2,200
years ago. They contain 200,000 words.
Some experts say the calligraphy on the bamboo is still readable.
