Phytopotamoplankton of the River Systems: Retrospective Review of
Investigations, Search for Methodic Approaches / T. N. Sereda // Gidrobiol.
Zhurn. – 2016. – Vol. 52, N 4. – P. 35–46.
Investigation of phytopotamoplankton as an important element of plankton,
and its spatial-temporal dynamics in stream conditions by means of determination
of phyto-yield is a promising approach in both environmental monitoring of the
water courses and in revelation of role of the algal communities in functioning of
the river systems on the whole. As standard methods of hydrobiology, applied for
investigations of lakes and reservoirs, are low effective in the water courses, we
outlined more effective methodic approaches to investigation of dynamic plankton
communities by mean of phyto-yield investigations. Taking into account climatic
peculiarities of the last century, the water yield characteristics became of essential
significance among complex of factors, affecting forming of phytopotamoplankton
in the river systems.
KEYWORDS: phytopotamoplankton, plain rivers, flow dynamics, algal yield.
