ocean (or sea) that is
partly surrounded by
land (it is usually
larger than a bay).
A strait is a narrow
body of water that
connects two larger
bodies of water.
A glacier is a longlasting, slowly-moving
river of ice on land.
A bay is a body of
water that is partly
enclosed by land (and
is usually smaller than
a gulf).
A hill is a rounded
area or mound of
land, smaller than a
mountain.
A valley is a low
place between
mountains.
An ocean is a large
body of salt water
that surrounds a
continent.
A canyon is a deep
valley with very steep
sides - often carved
from the Earth by a
river.
An island is a piece of
land that is
surrounded by water.
A volcano is a vent in
the Earth's crust
where lava, ash, and
hot gases erupt.
A peninsula is a body
of land that sticks out
into a body of water
and is surrounded on
three sides.
A cape is a pointed
piece of land that
sticks out into a sea,
ocean, lake, or river.
An isthmus is a

including a swamp,
bog, marsh, moor etc.
A sinkhole is a
circular depression
formed when the
roof of a cave
collapses.
A dune is a hill or a
ridge made of sand.
Dunes are shaped by
wind and change all
the time.
A mountain is a
rugged area of land
that rises higher than
2,000 feet.
A cave is a large hole
in the ground or in
the side of a hill or
mountain.
A coral reef is an
ocean ridge made up
of skeletal remains of
tiny sea animals.
Sometimes an atoll of
coral forms in a ring
(or partial ring) on top
of a volcanic cone.
