Thus, the two elements exhibit functional redundancy in thymocytes but also have unique functions in other settings. Introductio ...

... Table 5, and Table 6, the activity of numerous genes, such as those encoding phosphoserine phosphatase, NF-kB2, neuritin 1, vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor 1, GalNac-T6 and notch homolog 4 was significantly greater in corneal epithelial cell from males. In contrast, the transcription of many ...

... DNA is “on”. This undifferentiated cell (stem cell) can develop into any type of cell.  Specialization occurs when certain genes are turned “off” and other genes remain “on” – making a particular type of cell ▪ Ex. Muscle cells and Nerve cells in your body have the same DNA, but they have different ...

Interplay of Nature versus nurture

... There are four different types of nucleotides in DNA: adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cystine (C). The many possible sequences of A, T, G and C carry the genetic code. Genes are the basic biological units of inheritance. Each of the chromosomes of a normal human cell contains thousands of ...

NEDD9

Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD-9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NEDD9 gene. NEDD-9 is also known as enhancer of filamentation 1 (EF1), CRK-associated substrate-related protein (CAS-L), and Cas scaffolding protein family member 2 (CASS2). An important paralog of this gene is BCAR1.
