Mutation

... A fairly new type of mutation has been described, in which a particular codon is repeated. During replication, DNA polymerase can “stutter” when it replicates several tandem copies of a short sequence. For example, CAGCAGCAGCAG, 4 copies of CAG, will occasionally be converted to 3 copies or 5 copies ...

Light Up Cancer Cells, Go to Clinical Trials

... The trial with five melanoma patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City will seek to verify that the dots, also known as C dots, are safe and effective in humans, and to provide data to guide future applications. To evaluate the mWAPL mRNA levels more ...

C-Src kinase is a non receptor tyrosine kinase, encoded by the c-Src (cellular-Src) gene (Src pronounced “sarc”, which is short for sarcoma, a cancer type which derives from changed connective tissue cells) C-Src protein acts as a signal transduction inhibitor that is a critical component of multipl ...

NEDD9

Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD-9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NEDD9 gene. NEDD-9 is also known as enhancer of filamentation 1 (EF1), CRK-associated substrate-related protein (CAS-L), and Cas scaffolding protein family member 2 (CASS2). An important paralog of this gene is BCAR1.
