Analysis of Gene Expression
Analysis of Gene Expression

... that a gene can be uniquely identified using only a small (10-30 nt) piece from the 3’ end (which is not translated) • These tags are extracted (from cDNA), then concatenated into long molecules that are amplified with PCR (or cloned) and sequenced. • The number of times each tag appears is proporti ...

Some ventralized embryos still have residual dorsoventral polarity such that they still form a ventral invagination although all cells express ventral genes. ...

... Embedded into the DNA of many organisms, including humans, are ancient viruses that have worked their way in, perhaps in previous species. While most of this viral material has eroded, some may be complete but simply not turned on. In theory, the fact that the “promoter” can turn on genes up and dow ...

The budding yeast homing endonucleases I-SceI and PI-SceI, in contrast, apparently lack endogenous rDNA cleavage sites and are less toxic when expressed in mammalian cells (7). NEDD9

Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD-9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NEDD9 gene. NEDD-9 is also known as enhancer of filamentation 1 (EF1), CRK-associated substrate-related protein (CAS-L), and Cas scaffolding protein family member 2 (CASS2). An important paralog of this gene is BCAR1.
