... At 44m long and 25m in diameter (about the size of a five storey building), ATLAS is the largest volume detector ever constructed for particle physics. Just to get the sense of the scale you can see the little people hanging out around it. It also weighs 7000 tonnes which is the same as the Eiffel T ...

... counted. This gives us the number of neutrino reactions that have occurred within the tank. This gave the first direct evidence of the existence of neutrinos from the Sun, and had an incidence rate of one neutrino detected every 48 hours! This early detector could only detect one type of neutrino, t ...

... been suggested' that an additive quantum number exists which is always conserved, and which is+1 for p and zero for e . In order to make this consistent with known weak interactions, it is necessary to assume that there are two neutrinos, which are distinguished by their value of this quantum number ...

... These processes add a forward amplitude to the Hamiltonian, which is proportional to the number of elecrons encountered to the Fermi constant and to the neutrio energy. eThe Z exchange is diagonal in the 3-neutrino space this does not change the eigenstates only electron anti- neutrinos The W exchan ...

... Cylindrical drift chamber (CDC) is an ionization chamber used in COMET experiment. It composes of two conducting wires: cathode and anode, and medium gases. Once an energetic particle pass through the chamber, it will collide into a scintillator and give the first signal. It will also interact with ...

Super-Kamiokande

Super-Kamiokande (full name: Super-Kamioka Neutrino Detection Experiment, abbreviated to Super-K or SK) is a neutrino observatory located under Mount Kamioka near the city of Hida, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The observatory was designed to search for proton decay, study solar and atmospheric neutrinos, and keep watch for supernovae in the Milky Way Galaxy.
