It always involves a systematic change in behavior or behavioral disposition that occurs as a consequence of one’s ...

Is consciousness dependent on information processing or on brain states? Information processing in the brain is ultimately done by molecules (Black 1994) and therefore it i ...

Mirror neurons – the missing link for consciousness?

... Consciousness. It’s a word that most people feel they understand, but scratch the surface and things become pretty complicated. For example, you yourself are acutely aware that you are conscious. You’re conscious of these words, and perhaps even a feeling of interest in where this article is leading ...

Artificial consciousness

Artificial consciousness (AC), also known as machine consciousness (MC) or synthetic consciousness (Gamez 2008; Reggia 2013), is a field related to artificial intelligence and cognitive robotics. The aim of the theory of artificial consciousness is to ""define that which would have to be synthesized were consciousness to be found in an engineered artifact"" (Aleksander 1995).Neuroscience hypothesizes that consciousness is generated by the interoperation of various parts of the brain, called the neural correlates of consciousness or NCC, there are challenges to that perspective. Proponents of AC believe it is possible to construct machines (e.g., computer systems) that can emulate this NCC interoperation.Artificial consciousness concepts are also pondered in the philosophy of artificial intelligence through questions about mind, consciousness and mental states.
