The birth of topological insulators

... ‘topological’ and a brief history of this rapidly developing field, I discuss recent advances made in experiments on topological insulators — for both bulk and nanostructured materials — and in the theoretical understanding of these materials. I conclude by explaining why many research groups are se ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Dendrimer Templated Supported

... Aqueous mixtures of platinum(II) and gold(III) chloride salts are thermodynamically unstable,39 and gold(III) rapidly oxidizes the Pt(II) complexes appropriate for binding to dendrimer amine groups. Further, Au(III) is not stable in the presence of hydroxyl terminated dendrimers, as it can oxidize t ...

A Climatology of the Middle Atlantic Bight... Front Christopher Anthony Linder

... Description of the shelfbreak front in the Middle Atlantic Bight is hampered by the extreme variability of the front. In order to gain more insight into the mean frontal structure and associated baroclinic jet, historical data is used to produce two dimensional climatological fields of temperature a ...

Ultrahydrophobicity

Superhydrophobic surfaces are highly hydrophobic, i.e., extremely difficult to wet. The contact angles of a water droplet exceeds 150° and the roll-off angle/contact angle hysteresis is less than 10°. This is also referred to as the Lotus effect, after the superhydrophobic leaves of the lotus plant. Droplet impacting on these kind of surfaces can fully rebound like an elastic ball, or pancake.
