AL8400 /AL8400Q Description Pin Assignments

... The AL8400 Linear LED driver controller uses an external pass element to drive the LEDs and uses its FB pin to sense the LED current through an external resistor RSET. The pass element is driven by the AL8400’s open collector OUT pin which allows the pass element to be either an NPN transistor or N- ...

Introduction to Comparators
Introduction to Comparators

... Concerning the output configuration, there are two main types of comparators: with push-pull and open collector (or open drain). Push-pull stage output levels are typically VCC and 0 V (voltage drop from power supply pins can be neglected). In the case of open collector configuration, an external pu ...

There is a science to determine the exact size of an antenna but there are so many variables that in general it is best to get a general idea after which a degree of ‘Try it and see’ is unavoidable. 1.1.5.Ac Circuit Theory - Breadboarding

... Breadboarding is an essential skill for anyone who plans to design analog and/or digital circuits. In this activity you will gain experience using a breadboard to build and test simple analog circuits. In future activities we will breadboard digital circuits as well. The circuits analyzed in this ac ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
