Measuring Power Consumption for DragonBoard™ 410c
Measuring Power Consumption for DragonBoard™ 410c

... The most difficult part of this connection is identifying which of the two black wires is the positive voltage. If you are only measuring the current as shown above, it is not important if you are measuring the current flowing into the device (on the positive lead) or the current returning from the ...

Running Self-winding Clocks from 12V Sealed Lead Acid Batteries
Running Self-winding Clocks from 12V Sealed Lead Acid Batteries

... There are those individuals that prefer to run their self winding clock from a 6 volt Alkaline lantern battery. These advocates will argue that it is “good” for the clock. This approach has concerns. The most compelling is based on the square law relationship between energy dissipated in the motor ( ...

... and higher harmonic content in the output wavefront are also the highest. The other penalty to be paid for this increase in efficiency is a reduction in gain because the tube must be driven harder. We propose to operate the tetrode TH 595 in class B instead, thus achieving lower harmonic distortion ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
