Our Responsibility to Sustain God`s Earth

... mysteries. The land, oceans, atmosphere, lithosphere and living organisms (the biota) exchange energy, water and chemicals in never-ending circles called biogeochemical cycles. These cycles are our planetary life support systems and Earth’s climate is the result of their complex interactions. Scient ...

What`s your carbon footprint? Fact sheet

... When we burn fossil fuels to run our homes, factories and cars, carbon dioxide is produced. This is adding to the greenhouse effect, which in turn is causing our climate to change. What is the greenhouse effect? Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide let the heat of the sun into our atmosphere but do ...

Incorporating snow albedo feedback into downscaled temperature

... The UCLA team has developed an innovative approach called hybrid downscaling, which combines the strengths of dynamical and statistical downscaling. First, the researchers run a limited number of dynamical simulations that represent the full span of global climate model outcomes, and then they build ...

... Since the beginning of the 20th century, the global temperature has risen by about 0.85˚ Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Carbon emissions to date mean that the world is already committed to a further rise in temperature of at least 0.6˚C. By 2020, global temperature will have risen by more than ...

IPCC Fourth Assessment Report

Climate Change 2007, the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is the fourth in a series of reports intended to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information concerning climate change, its potential effects, and options for adaptation and mitigation. The report is the largest and most detailed summary of the climate change situation ever undertaken, produced by thousands of authors, editors, and reviewers from dozens of countries, citing over 6,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies. It supersedes the Third Assessment Report (2001), and is superseded by the Fifth Assessment Report. The headline findings of the report were: ""warming of the climate system is unequivocal"", and ""most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.""
