Women migrant workers from developing countries

Since the later 20th century, there has been substantial labour migration from developing countries to high-income countries. This has included a substantial portion of female migrants. Studies on women migrant workers in high-income countries tend to focus on their employment in domestic work and care work for dual-income families.In the early 2000s, a sharp increase of the proportion of women among the emigrants from certain countries was observed, specifically emigrants fromSri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines as well as Latin American countries.
