Parveen Babi
Parveen Babi (4 April 1954 – 20 January 2005) (some references put D.O.B as 1949) was an iconic Indian actress and a former Fashion model, who is most remembered for her glamourous roles alongside top heroes of the 1970s and early 1980s in blockbusters like Deewar, Namak Halaal, Amar Akbar Anthony and Shaan. She has appeared in over 60 feature films, received several awards and has numerous contributions to newspapers and magazines from 1973-92.In her times, there were two kinds of women in Indian movies, the virtuous and the vamps. Babi made a break with both stereotypes. She offered instead a woman who was westernised, cool, sexy and vivacious. And, living out that screen image, she struck a chord with audiences. In films, she represented the Bohemian Indian woman, her unconventional western looks drew attention and subsequently featured her on the cover of Time in the year of 1976, which was titled as Asia's frenetic film scene representing her as the face of the modern Indian woman. She became the first Indian movie star to appear on the magazine. She is now widely remembered and considered as one of the most beautiful and glamourous actresses to have ever appeared on Indian screen.
