On the theoretical side, quantum key distribution protocols such as BB84 have been proved to be unconditionally secure [20]. It is important to understand that this an information-theoretic proof, which does not necessarily guar ...

... Back in the very early 1900s physicists thought that within a few years everything having to do with physics would be discovered and the “book of physics” would be complete. This “book of physics” has come to be known as classical physics and consists of particles and mechanics on the one hand, an ...

This shows that universal quantum computation can be fully studied and implemented in the adiabatic framework, and so adiabatic computation can be thought of as an alternative model to quantum computation. We also show that a similar theorem holds when we relax the requirement that the Hamiltonians ...

Quantum field theory

In theoretical physics, quantum field theory (QFT) is a theoretical framework for constructing quantum mechanical models of subatomic particles in particle physics and quasiparticles in condensed matter physics. A QFT treats particles as excited states of an underlying physical field, so these are called field quanta. In quantum field theory, quantum mechanical interactions between particles are described by interaction terms between the corresponding underlying fields.
