... this way, electromagnetic energy is kept inside the system. It also gets harder for an external signal to cause EMI into the system. It is useful to both conducting EMI and radiated EMI. Generally this is an expensive way to protect the sensitive part of the system, and it takes space. It works well ...

... y We can’t use a small signal model of the transistor. So, simulation is probably our best approach to solving this problem. (Note that a 2N2222 transistor is used in this simulation rather than a 2SC799 or 2N3553. The later doesn’t work correctly in ADS for some unknown reason. You can’t always bel ...

... In order to achieve dB linear characteristics of the VGA, the implementation of exponential function is required which was done in standard 65nm CMOS technology rather than bipolar technology. This achieves a variable gain of 76dB with gain error of ±0.5dB. Due to the square and linear characteristi ...

... However, real-world signals are corrupted by noise that frequently contains higher frequency components than the signal itself. For example, if an ECG electrode is placed over a muscle, an unwanted electromyographic (EMG) signal may also be picked up (Cromwell et al., 1976). This problem is usually ...

Cellular repeater

A cellular repeater (also known as cell phone signal booster or amplifier), in the cell phone industry, is a device used for boosting the cell phone reception to the local area by the usage of a reception antenna, a signal amplifier, and an internal rebroadcast antenna. These are similar to the cellular broadcast towers used for broadcasting by the network providers, but are much smaller, usually intended for use in one building. Modern cellular repeater amplifiers can rebroadcast cellular signals inside a building. The systems usually use an external, directional antenna to collect the best cellular signal, which is then transmitted to an amplifier unit which amplifies the signal, and retransmits it locally, providing significantly improved signal strength. The more advanced models often also allow multiple cell phones to use the same repeater at the same time, so are suitable for commercial as well as home use.
