Feeling the Future again
Feeling the Future again

... Recently, Smolin [12,13] went even further and argued that the passage of time is based on objective grounds and constitutes an innate principle of the universe from which all physical laws evolve. This approach is now known as temporal naturalism [13]. According to his view, time is understood as a ...

Descartes also invented analytic geometry. This mathematicalization of space laid the foundation for the mathematicalization ...

... The newly discovered strategies for partially controlling the effects of decoherence, which would have been deemed impossible until very recently, greatly advance our understanding of dissipation in mesoscopic systems. Testing quantum decoherence in conceptually simple experiments is also an importa ...

... When we apply the quantization recipe to a classical field theory, we can obtain unitarily inequivalent representations of the CCRs encapsulating its quantization. Each purports to be the QFT that quantizes the classical field theory. Different quantizations can differ on such physically basic quest ...

Since the other three forces have been successfully explained by assuming force particles, it makes sense that gravity would also be the result of some particle exchange. So t ...

Orchestrated objective reduction

Orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR) is a hypothesis that consciousness in the brain originates from processes inside neurons, rather than from connections between neurons as in the conventional view. The mechanism is held to be a quantum physics process called objective reduction which is orchestrated by molecular structures called microtubules. The hypothesis, which was put forward in the early 1990s by theoretical physicist Roger Penrose and anaesthesiologist and psychologist Stuart Hameroff, has so far been rejected by the majority of cognitive scientists.
