... Furman’s SMP relies on a network of components to slow down the impact of a potentially catastrophic surge by capturing it, dissipating it in the form of heat, and absorbing the remaining excess energy. When tested with multiple 6,000V/3,000A surges, the SMP circuit’s maximum let-through voltage is ...

MAX3158 High CMRR RS-485 Transceiver with ±60V Isolation General Description

... The MAX3158 is a high CMRR RS-485/RS-422 data-communications interface providing ±60V isolation in a hybrid microcircuit. A single +5V supply on the logic side powers both sides of the interface, with external 100V capacitors transferring power from the logic side to the isolated side. Each MAX3158 ...

High Common-Mode Voltage, Programmable Gain Difference Amplifier AD628

... A precision 10 kΩ resistor connected to an external pin is provided for either a low-pass filter or to attenuate large differential input signals. A single capacitor implements a lowpass filter. The AD628 operates from single and dual supplies and is available in an 8-lead SOIC_N or an 8-lead MSOP. ...

Ground loop (electricity)

In an electrical system, a ground loop is an equipment and wiring configuration which results in excessive unwanted current in a conductor connecting two points that are supposed to be at the same electric potential, often ground, but are actually at different potentials.Ground loops are a major cause of noise, hum, and interference in audio, video, and computer systems. They do not in themselves create an electric shock hazard, the inappropriate connections merely create a not necessarily very good instance of Electrical_bonding, which is explicitly required by safety regulations in certain circumstances. In any case the voltage difference between the ground terminals of each item of equipment is small. A severe risk of electric shock occurs when equipment grounds are improperly removed in an attempt to cure the problems thought to be caused by ground loops.
