Power Factor Correction
Power Factor Correction

... An electric motor is inductive, especially when it is starting. The current waveform lags behind the voltage waveform, dropping the PF to well below 1. This is why many motors have ‘starting’ capacitors fitted to counteract the inductance, and therefore correct the PF during motor startup. Figure 1b ...

... First, use a small amplitude sine wave for the input voltage and try varying the dc offset voltage of the frequency generator. You will find that a dc offset or an input amplitude that is too large can easily cause the amplifier to saturate, giving a distorted or "clipped" waveform. What + and - out ...

POWER RATING OF RESISTOR Finding a resistor`s power rating

... The power rating of a resistor is one of the more hidden values. Nevertheless it can be important, and it’s a topic that’ll come up when selecting a resistor type. Power is the rate at which energy is transformed into something else. It’s calculated by multiplying the voltage difference across two p ...

Audio power

Audio power is the electrical power transferred from an audio amplifier to a loudspeaker, measured in watts. The electrical power delivered to the loudspeaker, together with its sensitivity, determines the sound power level generated (with the rest being converted to heat).Amplifiers are limited in the electrical energy they can amplify, while loudspeakers are limited in the electrical energy they can convert to sound energy without distorting the audio signal or being damaged. These power ratings are important to consumers finding compatible products and comparing competitors.
