Use this to check your learning and focus your revision. Words in bold are keywords
you should be able to define and use.
1. What are the causes of climate change?

a) I can draw an annotated diagram of the greenhouse effect and how
it can lead to global warming
b) I understand the difference between the greenhouse effect and
the enhanced greenhouse effect
c) I can label a simple drawing of the carbon cycle and know how human
actions/emissions can affect the cycle.
2. What is the evidence for climate change?
a) I know that ice cores and co2 emissions (the keeling curve) are
scientific methods to prove that global warming is occurring.
I understand that more extreme weather, melting glaciers, animal
migrations, changes in ecosystems are also ways to show that global
warming is occurring.
3. What might happen in the future?
a) I understand that short term effects such as frequency of storms,
droughts, floods and agriculture changes are likely.
b) I understand that long term effects such as rising sea levels, insect
bourne disease, migration of refugees is likely.
c) I can give both positive and negative effects of global warming and
weigh them up.
d) I can recall case study information about how climate change is
likely to affect an MEDC country- UK.
e) I can recall case study information about how climate change is
likely to affect a Sub-Saharan African nation such as Mali.
4. Reducing the impact of Climate change: Technology and lifestyle
a) I understand that technology can be used to reduce the impact of
climate change (Solar furnaces, wind energy, electric cars, carbon
capture and storage).

b) I understand that lifestyles can change in order to reduce emissions
(energy saving bulbs and appliances, use of public transport and
reducing/restricting aviation/aircraft)
