Transcript
Chromosome Project
You will be assigned a chromosome number to research. Answer the following questions in a
Powerpoint or Prezi. The presentation must be emailed to me at [email protected] on the
due date with your name as the subject line. Please do not print the presentation.
Use the following websites for your research:
http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/chromosomes and
http://www.ornl.gov/sci/techresources/Human_Genome/posters/chromosome/cho
oser.shtml.
Slide 1: Description
 Relative size (the smallest or largest chromosome?)
Slide 2: Base pairs
 Number of base pairs
Slide 3: DNA
 Percentage of total DNA contained here
Slide 4: Genes
 Estimated number of genes on the chromosome
Slide 5: What it looks like:
 Picture or diagram of the chromosome
Slide 6: Genes
 List of 5 disorders associated with chromosome
 Choose three to explain in detail answering the questions below:
Slide 7: Disorder 1
 What type of mutation is it? (Point, chromosomal, etc)
 What problems does the disorder cause?
 What are the symptoms that people show?
 What is the treatment?
Slide 8: Disorder 2
 See slide 7
Slide 9: Disorder 3
 See slide 7
Slide 10: Fun Fact
 Something interesting that you learned during your research
You can include relevant pictures on any slide. You can be as creative as you like with
animations and sound effects. You MAY NOT CUT AND PASTE. Plagiarism will
result in a 0. Your writing must be original and correctly spelled.
