Egyptian Reports/Projects
You will be responsible for a project with researched information. You may choose your topic
from the list below or a teacher-approved idea. Your project will consist of 3 parts: the model,
the written report, and your oral presentation to the class.
Suggestions:
1. Design an archeological dig. With an aquarium (or similar container) fill with soil/sand
and choose objects of an Egyptian culture you design. Your objects should be
representative of that culture. Write your findings.
2. Sphinx. Make a model. Describe what it is and what it represents. Give a history of what
is known.
3. King Tut and his tomb. Make a model and a floor plan of his tomb. Tell what we know
about King Tut. Describe what was found, who found it, and why this discovery was so
important.
4. Model of an Egyptian village and/or villa. Label. Write a description and explanation of
what would be found there.
5. Diorama of daily Egyptian life. Choose two daily scenes and recreate in a diorama.
Describe what is there and why. What do the objects, etc. represent?
6. Create your own Rosetta stone. Use English, one other code (of your choosing), and an
ideograph code. Do it in plaster, play dough, or clay. Your report should tell what the
Rosetta stone was, its importance, who found it, etc.
7. Egyptian symbols. Research and collect. Make a chart or matrix of what these symbols
are and what they represent. Your writings should reflect the importance of these
symbols.
8. Mummification process. Show the steps involved, the mummy, the coffin, sarcophagus,
and canopic jars. You may include additional objects and/or drawings. Your writing
should thoroughly describe the process, why the procedures were done, and why they
were important to the Egyptians.
9. Gods/goddesses of Egypt. Make cut our paper dolls (puppets) of the gods and
goddesses. Dress them appropriately and label. Write who they are, what they
represent, why they were important, and the story of how they came to be.
10. Amenhotep IV and Nefertiti. A model or mural. Explain who, where, when, and what
their rule was.
11. Cleopatra. Make a model. Write who she was, where, when and what was her
importance.
12. Relief map of the Nile River Valley. Make a 3 dimensional map of the Nile River
Valley. Include major geographical areas, ancient cities, and historical sites.
13. Paper making. Make your own. Explain the process of papyrus to paper. Tell of its
importance. Use hieroglyphics.
14. Dress and adornment. Research what the average Egyptian would wear. Include dress,
charms, amulets, jewelry, shoes, makeup, and protection. Include both male and female,
adult and child. You could make models, paper standups or portraits. You could
compare the peasant dress with the royal dress.
15. Transportation. The Egyptians used boats on the river. Make a model of an ancient
Egyptian ship. Show trade routes. Describe the routes, what was traded, and with
whom. How else were the boats used?
16. Any pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. Who were they? What did they accomplish? When did
they live? What were they known for?
17. Transportation. In what did the ancient Egyptians travel and trade? Find out about
ships on the Nile and other forms of land travel.
18. Geography. Make a relief map of ancient Egypt. Include all the locations we placed on
our maps. Make the topography accurate and label everything. In our paper discuss
how the geography influenced this great civilization.
19. Other. There may be a subject about which you want to learn more. Check with Mrs.
Perez to get permission.
The written section should be typed. Please check your grammar and spelling. Your
information should be thorough and accurate. Include a cover page with title, your name, and
date. The last page should be a bibliography of at least 3 sources. Your textbook may be one of
the sources. There are many trade books both in the library and in our classroom. You may also
use an internet site as one source.
