L. Mark Raab (Ph.D. Arizona State University, 1976) has over 25 years experience as a
professional archaeologist in California, the American Southwest, American Southeast,
and Mexico. His research interests include the cultural ecology of prehistoric
hunter-gatherers, maritime prehistory with special emphasis on San Clemente Island, and
the application of archaeological models and research designs. He is currently Professor
of Anthropology and Director of the Center for Public Archaeology, California State
University, Northridge (CSUN).
Matthew A. Boxt earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California,
Los Angeles in 1993. Currently at CSUN, he is a lecturer in anthropology and is involved
in the development of internet-based university curricula. He has conducted fieldwork in
California, Belize, Mexico and Guatemala with principal interests in the prehistory of
Baja California Sur and the development of Olmec civilization.
