F O R U M
Hey, history wannabes! Now you can enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime chance to
travel back in your very own personal time machine! Yes, you will be able to go
where no person has gone before! You will
a. choose a man or woman from World History;
b. research the story of that person's life;
c. costume yourself to appear as that person actually appeared;
d. design an informative, attractive business card;
e. attend a gathering of some of the most intriguing people
ever to have graced our planet--at the world-renowned
LEADERS’ FORUM; and
f. write a well-organized, thoughtful essay on leaders
in history.
Sound too good to be true? Well, hold onto your hats, because here's how
you can make your historical dreams become reality!
STEP I:
Choose a man or woman from World History! Lists are on the reverse
side of this sheet! Then see the teacher to get approval of your choice!
STEP II:
Research that person! Start your research with your trusty textbook!
You may use the good old William Fremd High School library during a
study hall or lunch hour! What a school this is! Plus, at no extra
charge, there are terrific public libraries just minutes away here in the
exciting northwest suburbs! But wait--there's more! You can also
utilize the wonders of the World Wide Web (a.k.a. the Internet)!
STEP III:
Appear in authentic historical costume! Create your very own fashion
statement to show how your character looked while alive! Use your
imaginations, but don't include actual weapons or look-alike weapons.
See your friendly librarian for books on historical costuming!
STEP IV:
Design an informative, attractive business card! The teacher
will have some ideas for you on this step!
STEP V:
Attend a party given in honor of all invited guests at the
world-renowned L E A D E R S’
F O R U M ! ! Don't forget
your business cards; in fact, don't leave home without them!
STEP VI:
Write a five-paragraph essay discussing leaders in history.
This sure sounds great! But how do you get started? Well, choose a person
from the list and you're on your way!
