Spanish 2 Mid-term Exam Study Guide
The exam will cover the first three chapters of your textbook. The
objective part of the exam will include multiple choice, matching and
true-false sections. These questions will test the vocabulary and
grammar presented in these chapters. Study the vocabulary because
it will be tested in logic questions as well as in readings. The
following is a list of the grammar topics you should study:
Nouns (masculine, feminine, singular, plural)
Adjectives (agreement—number/gender)
Gustar
Present Tense (regular, stem-changing, and irregular Yo verbs)
Reflexive Verbs (me, te, se, nos, os, se pronouns)
Expressions with Tener (hungry, thirsty, sleepy, age...)
Verbs followed by Infinitives (quiero comer, debes estudiar...)
Present Progressive (estar + -ando/-iendo/-yendo—to be doing
something)
Ir + a + infinitive (to be going to do something)
Direct Object Pronouns (me, te, lo, la, nos, os, los, las)
Tú (informal) Commands (affirmative and negative)
Ser vs Estar
Adjectives of Nationality
Expressions followed by Infinitives (Me toca barrer, hay que estudiar,
favor de pasar...)
Preterite tense (regular, hacer, ir, conocer, -car/-gar/-zar, conocer,
irregular stem)
Impersonal se (one studies a lot—se estudia mucho)
Passive se (Spanish is spoken—se habla español)
Formal (Ud./Uds.) Commands (regular and irregular)
In addition to studying your notes and homework, I recommend that
you use the textbook website (my.hrw.com) which you can access
with your password. Go to the online edition and click on the book
pages tab. Re-read all of the information presented, and then do the
more practice activities which change every 2-3 pages of the text.
You can also practice the activities under the vocabulario y gramática
and cuaderno de práctica tabs as well as the self-test. These
activities will give you the answers so you can check your work.
There will also be an essay section on the exam. There will be three
Spanish readings each with questions to answer in essay form. Two
of the answers will be written in English and one in Spanish.
