Description
Data analysis, probability models, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing. Multifactor experimental design and regression analysis. Quality control, SPC,
reliability. Engineering cases and project. Statistical analysis software.
To help students develop an understanding of statistical thinking and to enable
students to apply and interpret basic statistical techniques in the context of
engineering.

Assignments
There will be 8 assignments graded as pass/not pass.
Examinations
There will be three exams (two midterms and one final) and three 20-minute
quizzes. You will need a scientific calculator for each exam and quiz. All tests
will be closed book and no notes. Selected formulas will be provided. The
quizzes and midterms are generally not cumulative. The final exam will be
cumulative.

Grading
Your grade will be based on assignments (5% total), three quizzes (10% each),
two midterm exams (20% each) and the final exam (25%). Letter grades will be
assigned as follows: 97 to 100: A+; 93 to 96: A; 90 to 92: A–; 87 to 89: B+; 83 to
86: B; 80 to 82: B–; 77 to 79: C+; 73 to 76: C; 70 to 72: C–; 67 to 69: D+; 63 to
66: D; 60 to 62: D–; 59 or less: F.
