August 13 – 24, 2012
MKT 3240 Selected Topics in Marketing: Marketing in India (3 credit hours)
Marketing in India offers an intensive and stimulating survey of marketing in
India – the second most populated country in the World. Recently, India has
an emerged an economic giant with impressive growth in the knowledge and
service sectors. Offered in cooperation with the Multinational Business
Academy in Delhi, India, the program will combine lectures, assignments,
company site visits, and interaction with industry leaders to provide students
with a truly global learning experience. Topics covered include the economic
and cultural landscape of India, service marketing in India, the emerging
middle class consumers in India, and retailing in India. The program is lead by
Dr. Mohan Agrawal, a regular visiting instructor in the Department of
Marketing at the Asper School of Business and internationally recognized
teacher. Students will earn 3 credits at the University of Manitoba. During the
two weeks of the program, time will be reserved to visit some of the famous
cultural and religious sites in and around Delhi such as the Taj Mahal,
Akshardham Temple, and Old Delhi.
Pre-trip classes will be held in July with Dr. Agrawal, who will be teaching at
the University during Summer Session 2012. The program is open to all
interested students.
