Where: 4,000 miles of trade routes between Roman Empire in
the West, and Han Dynasty in the East around 206 BC to 220 AD.
What: East trades (silk and spices) West trades (silver and gold,
and religion)
Significance 1: Aided development of civilizations of China,
India, Persia, Europe, and Arabia
Significance 2: Trade of physical silk and spices & Mental:
technologies, religions, bubonic plague
Significance 3: Connected Christian Europe to markets across
Arabia and Asia.
MAIN POINT:
Silk Road ends 1400!: Rise of Islam blocks Christian Europe,
which then pursues maritime trade (mercantilism).
