Content Standard 2: The Student will analyze the
expanding role of the United States in international affairs
as America was transformed into a world power in the late
19th and early 20th centuries, 1890 to 1920.

Taft, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson,
and Eugene V. Debs; the key issues of
dealing with trusts, the right of women to
vote, and trade tariffs; and the impact of the
“Bull Moose Party” on the outcome of the
election.
3. Evaluate the long term impact of America’s entry into
WWI on national politics, the economy, and society
• A. Summarize the transformation of the United States from a
position of neutrality to engagement in WWI including the
Zimmerman Note and the threats to international trade caused by
unrestricted submarine warfare.

of propaganda, women’s increased role in industry, the marshaling
