Introduction
• The Cantonese Opera have two types which
are origin at Guangdong & Guangxi,
Cantonese Opera can trace its origins back a
very long way.The art from has always been
popular in Hong Kong,and many famous
Cantonese operatic artists have been born here.
Dressing Rooms

The artist go to the dressing rooms because
they have to put on their Cantonese Opera
costumes & they need to make up their own
character face .

such of a costume as sex , role, plot,
personality,environment and occasion.

• There are two forms of music in Cantonese
Opera like vocal music and instrumental
music.

The Gods of Cantonese Opera
• There are six roles in this opera:Marshals of
the six Kingdoms,The Cartress,The Wives of
the Marshals of the six Kingdoms,So
Tsun,King Ngai and Kungseun Hin.
• Now people can go to Hong Kong Academy
for Performing Arts to learn & in 1920s Pak
Wo Association have set up some courses for
the people who have talents.
• In the past there are some places that we can
go to see people sing songs & Cantonese
Opera such as Lee Theatre, Bamboo shed
Theatre,Zumiao of Foshan Wanfutal opera
stage.
Gods in Cantonese Opera
• In traditional Cantonese Opera which often
appear a lot of Gods characters like Master
Huaguang.
Costumes
• In Costumes it will separate in to two part is
Foot Wear & Headgear.
• In the woman’s Foot wear the shoes have a
shoe platform In the middle & the men’s
shoes always look like a boot.
Headgear
• Headgear is for kings nobles ,generals
&ministers.These can include fore head
headdresses ,commander in chief helmets &
officials hats.
• Soft headgear is common people.These can
include duck tail hats, old gentleman’s hat &
Taoist Priest’s hat.
