D-Day was a success, but the allied forces
needed more
• Needed to liberate France and advance into
Germany

Battle of the Bulge
• Germans surrounded the American occupied
city of Bastogne

General Patton came with reinforcements
• Broke the German lines
• After 3 weeks of fighting, the Germans began
to retreat
• Nothing was in the way of Americans entering
Germany
WWII Ends

Knowing defeat was inevitable, Hitler
