ANATOMY OF A NORMAL CURVE
The Normal Distribution, displayed via a Normal Curve, is bell-shaped.
It is centered at and symmetric about the mean, m.
The curve is close to, but never touches, the horizontal
axis beyond the values of m – 3s and m + 3s.
m  3s
m  2s m  s
m
m  s m  2s
m  3s
The curve’s shape, in terms of height and width, is determined by the value of the standard deviation, s.
The curve’s location along the horizontal axis is determined by the mean, m.
