RAD-Hard Non-Isolated Point of Load (POL) Voltage Regulators PRESS RELEASE DATA SHEETS The SBB series devices are designed to maximize efficiency in space applications including satellites requiring long mission life up to 15 years or 100Krads of total ionizing does (TID). The SBB series delivers high efficiency of up to 89%, allowing the use of a smaller heatsink to reduce overall size and weight of the system. The new devices suitable for designs using new digital signal processors, ASIC and FPGA technologies feature 30W output power or output current of 14A. HI-RES GRAPHIC HiRel HOME PAGE Features Advantages • • • With high efficiency performance well suited to the high power requirements of two-stage distributed power architecture design applications, the SBB series addresses the ongoing need to reduce size and weight, as well as the increasing needs of FPGA and other digital circuitries for increased bandwidth, data processing speed and the higher processing power requirements of digital electronics onboard spacecraft. • Weighing less than 60 grams in a compact form factor, other key features of the new devices include 4.5 to 5.5V input range, SEE LET (Heavy Ions) greater than 82 MeV.cm2/mg, under voltage lockout (UVLO), remote sense compensation, adjustable output voltage, power OK (POL) status and remote on and off control. • A fixed frequency non-isolated synchronous buck regulator topology is included to maximize efficiency. An internal input EMI filter is included to minimize the switching ripple currents. No external filter components are required for typical design applications. • • • • • • • • • • 4.5 to 5.5V input range 30W output or up to 14A operating current without power de-rating Total Ionization Dose > 100K Rad (Si) SEE LET (Heavy Ions) > 82 MeV.cm 2/mg Integrated input and output filters for low noise performance and stand-alone operations Standard output voltages include 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3V Remote sense compensation Remote on/off command High efficiency up to 89% Adjustable output voltage for precise output setting Low weight, < 60 grams Compact form factor with low profile package, 2.4” x 2.0” x 0.335”H, including I/O pins and mounting tabs October 2010
