Think of Germany
….and you might picture a cuckoo clock,
one of our better known inventions.
Now think again and picture a MP3 player,
a modern technology also invented in
Germany, and now providing musical
delights to millions …

consider, for example, the influence of the German Bauhaus School on the skyline
of Chicago, or the contributions of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

biology, engineering, psychology, philosophy, international law and archaeology; for
philosophy, you can’t do without Nietzsche, Marx Freud and
Jung.COMMUNICATION

German is for a new breed of thinkers, artists, scientists, journalists and travellers.
BUSINESS
Germany is the most powerful country in Europe both politically and economically. If your
future finds you in Foreign Affairs, International Trade or Defense, German is a must. Germany is
the third largest industrial nation. Germany is Canada’s 4th largest trading partner after the
US, Japan, and the UK. 68% of all Japanese students study German. One of the largest German
language schools is in Seoul, Korea.SURF !
After English, German is the second most commonly found language on the internet. Germany is
one of the top three nations in the research and development of high-tech products.TRAVEL
Germans have one of the highest per capita incomes in the world; they are therefore the
biggest tourism spenders in the world. German can also be helpful when travelling through
Spain, Greece, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, parts of France, Italy, and all Eastern European
countries, since a large part of the population there has an understanding of the
language.RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Germany is the world’s largest contributor to research and development, outspending
Canada 10 to 1, thus making it an essential source of R&D in agriculture, medical and health
research, non-nuclear energy, the environment, information and communication technologies.
