Some interesting body facts….
• Heat released by the human body in one hour can boil 5
liters of water in one hour.
• Our eyes blink in order to clean tears and moisture from
the eye balls so that we can see clearly.
• Blinking also is a reflex action that protects the eyes. If
something is thrown at your eyes you will immediately
blink.
• We die of hunger after 9 days because our stomach
digests itself.
• The strongest and the sturdiest muscle of the human
body is the tongue.
• At the time of birth, babies don't have knee caps. Knee
caps grow gradually and they are there by the age 2.

Integumentary System
• Covers your body and protects
the tissue underneath
• Includes: skin, hair, and nails
Muscular System
• Works with the skeletal system to
help you move
– 1. Skeletal muscle: helps bones move
– 2. Smooth muscle: moves food
– 3. Cardiac muscle: pumps blood
Skeletal System
• Provides a frame to support and
protect your body parts
• Includes: bones, cartilage, and
connective tissue
Cardiovascular/ Circulatory System
• Pumps blood through all of your
blood vessels
• Includes: heart, blood, and blood
vessels
– 3 kinds of blood vessels:
• 1. Arteries: takes blood away from your
heart
• 2. Veins: takes blood to the heart
• 3. Capillaries: allows things to leave your
blood and get to body cells
Respiratory System
• Takes in oxygen and
releases carbon dioxide
• Includes: nose, throat,
and lungs
Nervous System
• Receives and sends electrical
messages throughout your body
• Includes: brain, spinal cord, and
nerves
Digestive System
• Breaks down food you eat into
nutrients that your body can
absorb
• Includes: mouth, pharynx,
esophagus, stomach, small
intestine, large intestine, and
liver
• Where does digestion begin???
