Liquid Nitrogen Treatment Information Sheet
Your skin lesion(s) has been treated by cryosurgery or “freezing” using a cold
solution of liquid nitrogen.
The exact way in which the treatment works is unclear. In some cases it causes
local destruction of damaged skin cells. In other conditions it may encourage your
immune system to produce antibodies, to destroy warts for example.
In 24-48 hours a blister may appear at the site of the treatment. This may even fill
up with a bloody fluid. Many people are alarmed at the size of the blister and think
that the treatment has gone wrong; however this is a normal response to the
treatment. If you experience discomfort with the blister then you may release the
pressure/fluid with a clean needle. Do not remove the skin once you have released
the fluid, as it will act as a natural bandage.
If you are having warts treated you may need several treatments to resolve the
warts.
If you are concerned, you may reach one of the dermatology nurses at 1-705-7757546.
