The Machine of Saint Rose
3 september - Viterbo
The Machine of Saint Rose is a 30 meters high tower,
weighing about 5 tons, celebrating the transfer of the
Saint’s body from her burial place to the Poor Clare’s
church (now called ‘Santa Rosa’) upon Papal mandate. It is
transported by the sheer force of 100 men in the historic
centre of Viterbo on the evening of 3 September each year.
The tower, lit by candles and lights, makes its way through
the darkened narrow streets of the centre and it is a really
breathtaking experience.
San Pellegrino blossomy
1-2 may - Viterbo
In the heart of the town of Viterbo, thoughout the old
town and the medieval quarter of San Pellegrino the
small squares, the fountains, the historic buildings
and the Papal Palace are adorned with flowers in the
windows, on balconies, in doorways, and the historic
center is turned into a multi-coloured rainbow. The
ancient buildings are charged with an evocative
atmosphere.

Elena and Enzo, the owners of Country House Le Farine, have conceived
the project of a pocket guide to inform tourists about itineraries in
this area which is rich in natural, historical and traditional sites. The
collaboration of graphic designer Riccardo Muzzi was essential to fully
develop this project and Promotuscia was very helpful in the promotion
and distribution of the guide.
Promotuscia is an agency specialized in tourism and was founded in
1994 to meet the demands of highly exacting travellers. Their main field
of interest are exclusive trips focusing mainly on the cultural aspects
of the region. Their commitment is to create a unique travel experience
in line with the individual expectations and passions of the customers.
Besides organizing trips, they also pursue a marketing strategy in
the area through the Tourist Office in Viterbo and the Ticket Office in
Bagnoregio. They also organize events, conventions and conferences
both on behalf of organizations and private customers.

Sutri, Nepi, Civitacastellana, Calcata > 105 km

completely carved into the stone, an Etruscan necropolis formed by dozens of
tombs, a temple of the god Mithras within the church of the Madonna del Parto, a
Romanesque Cathedral dating back to 1207, with a mosaic floor.
Nepi was always a point of contention among powerful families: the prefects of
Vico, the Orsini and the Colonna. In 1499, under the Borgias, was built the mighty
fortress with high walls, by Antonio Sangallo the Older.
Civitacastellana is an important center for the manufacture of ceramics goods.
The Sangallo fortress was built by Pope Alexander VI Borgia it is a splendid historical testimony of military architecture. Remarkable is also the cathedral with a
splendid Romanesque facade and mosaic floors by masters Cosmati.

past. The Etruscan necropolis “Monterozzi,” with marvelous frescoed tombs, the
grand XVI century Vitelleschi palace which houses the museum, the Priors palace,
the towers and the walls of the XIII century.

of mythological and grotesque figures, set in a natural amphitheater: the scenic
illusion is overwhelming and the viewer is immersed in an overflow of sensations
that can confuse and overcome emotionally.
The Orsini castle in Soriano was commissioned by Pope Nicholas III in the XIII
century and it is surrounded by the Renaissance village with the Chigi-Albani Palace and Papacqua Fountain. A majestic beech wood with age-old trees is worth

Farnese, mistress of Pope Borgia, has got a beautiful beach bordered by lawns

1263. This miracle gave rise to Corpus Christi celebration. The church of Santa
Cristina and the Church of the Miracle, the medieval Monaldeschi fortress and the

younger in XVI century.
Civita di Bagnoregio overlooks the valley from the top of a tufa hill and is only

growth and is now witnessing its decline.
