Product description
The slim size shielded 2-pole EPF 230V/16A-S und EPF 230/35A-S with low-pass filter are designed to protect
sensible electronic devices and systems like GSM stations against surge voltages caused by SEMP and LEMP
as well as against electromagnetic HF-interferences, caused by the electromagnetic field of an lightning stroke.
Available for power supplies from 16A up to 35A. The impulse current discharge capability is up to 25 kA (8/20µs).
The new designed protection circuit with filter contains additionally to the coarse and fine protection by Varistors
(MOV) an optimized decoupling between both protection stages.This decoupling is made by a combination of
Ohms resistant, inductive resistant (differential mode and common mode filter). By these, a low-pass behaviour
is achieved.
The SPDs are fitted with a thermal protection NC contact, which respond if the varistor exceed a certain level of
temperature due to thermal overload.
These thermal protection contact works in such a way, that they only cut off the SPD from the power supply
whilst the electrical equipment will not suffer any functioning failure; in that case the green signal LED will go
out.
Application
Surge voltage protection of AC- power supplies of sensitive electronics, where HF-disturbances caused by
lightning events should be avoided. Very suitable for use acc. to the LEUTRON SEP® installation principles in
GSM stations and RF-installations.
To be installed at the boundary 1-2 according to the lightning zones concept of IEC 62305 part 1 (VDE 0185-305-1).
