This graph shows the survival rate of one species of ground
finch, the medium ground finch, Geospiza fortis, during a
drought period.
Describe the trend shown in the graph above.
Draw a line on the graph to predict what the future population
of finches would look like
Extended Thinking: Ground Finches, like Geospiza, have a
strong, thick beak to apply pressure to break thick-walled
seeds. The larger the beak, the thicker the seeds that the birds
can consume. Using the graph to the left, your prediction for
next generation of finches and your knowledge of seeds to
predict what type of seeds would be found in larger quantities
in this ecosystem after the drought and justify your choice.
