1. Historians rely on a variety of sources to learn
about the ancient Israelites, such as archaeological
artifacts and written records. The Torah is likely
the most useful source because it was passed down
orally from ancient times and then written down.
Possible answers:
2. 1950 B.C.E.: Abraham, the ancestor of the Jews,
migrated with his family from Ur in Mesopotamia
to Canaan.
1800 B.C.E.: Many Israelites fled from Canaan to
Egypt because of famine.
1000 B.C.E.: After escaping from Egypt and
wandering in the desert, the Israelites settled in
Canaan and set up the kingdom of Israel.

Jerusalem. Solomon was a poet and is credited as
the author of several books, including the Book
of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, in the part of the
Hebrew Bible called Writings.
