Process of Communication
Transmitting (sending) information (the
message) from a sender to a receiver. The
receiver can be one person or a group of
people.
The medium is your chosen method of sending
the information e.g. telephone, letter, e-mail,
DM, blog, micro blog (Twitter)
Formal/Informal
Formal – accurate, precise, correct use of SPG,
well presented, official, proper e.g. a meeting
with your boss, a interview, an assembly, an
English essay
Informal– casual, slang, unofficial, relaxed,
natural e.g. phone call with your friend, a
tweet, dm
Internal/External
Internal – communication within somebody
who works within the same organisation e.g.
managers, supervisors, operatives, colleagues
etc
External – communication with somebody
outside the organisation e.g. customers,
suppliers, local community

Barriers to Communication
A barrier is anything which prevents
information from being delivered correctly
or causes the receiver to misinterpret.
Examples include:
noise, time delay, technical problems,
language barriers, use of technical jargon
