Explain to the “new student” what the
difference is between a metamorphic,
igneous, and sedimentary rock.
A metamorphic rock is formed under the earth’s surface by heat
and pressure.
A sedimentary rock is formed on the surface as other rocks are
weathered and eroded away. The sediments are cemented and
compacted together.
An igneous rock is formed from either magma or lava.
