My favorite opera
My favorite opera is called “Straszny Dwór”. It’s by a Polish composer Stanisław
Moniuszko . Stanisław Moniuszko was the one of the greatest composers of
classical music in Poland in the eighteenth century. I watched this opera in the
National Opera in Warsaw. The National Opera is the greatest opera house in
Poland.
“Straszny Dwór” is a story about two brothers Zbigniew and Stefan. The action
takes place in the first half of the eighteenth century. There were many
disputes in Zbigniew’s and Stefan’s family. It happens in Poland in typical Polish
family from the eighteenth century. It was a patriotic performance because
Stanisław Moniuszko lived when Poland was not present on the map of Europe
and Warsaw at that time belonged to Russia. He composed it for strengthen
everyone who believed in the free, independent country without any
occupation. The title “Straszny dwór” means “scary mansion”.
I think this opera is one of the most beautiful operas in the world. It has a very
pretty melody line with the best sound of orchestra and the best Polish opera
singers. This kind of music is the best for people who love classical music and
composers. I think opera is best place to meet with classical music and culture.
In my opinion opera and theater are very good experience for young people. I
enjoy this opera because I love classical music. I think everyone must watch it!
