About Us
The Department of Applied Mathematics was founded in 1984
with the mission of providing the intellectual community with high
quality education pertinent to the applied mathematics discipline,
in response to the explosive growth of applications of mathematics
to natural science, engineering and social science. Currently the
department has 11 full time faculty members. They are enthusiastic
in teaching, research, service and guidance. The curriculum is
designed not only to emphasize both theoretical and applied aspects
of mathematics but also computer science and financial analysis.
Over the years, the graduates have had excellent performances in
many sectors. Some pursue teaching and researching in applied
mathematics, information science, business management etc., while
others entered the industries of computers, finance, insurance and
other high tech companies.
Core Courses
Advanced Calculus, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis,
Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Linear Algebra, Algebra,
Probability Theory, Statistics….
